I'm studying to become a writer for children so I'm nearly always reading books for kids/teenagers (when I'm not reading Terry Pratchett or Neil Gaiman, that is!). At the moment I'm reading an awesome book called The Crowfield Curse by Pat Walsh. It's about a medieval boy who discovers magical creatures and dark secrets around the abbey where he lives.

I'm working my way through A Storm of Swords by George RR Martin, Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins and The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson.

I'm in the George R. R. Martin club too, although only just picked up Game of Thrones.
Finished the Hunger Games books the other weekend, read all the three in about as many days. I really enjoyed them, although felt that the final book ended quite disappointedly.

Alex, when you get on to the second book of A Storm of Swords, post your reaction on Facebook or something. It was 3am and I had to go on Twitter just to yell something.

Have to agree about the third Hunger Games book, it's very disappointing. Though I've heard from publishers that the author (normally a writer who took her time to get things right) was forced to churn the last book out too quickly.

I'm on The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss at the moment and really enjoying it! I agree with the thoughts on the ending of Mockingjay too, it did seem a bit rushed - but other than that I like the Hunger Games a lot.

Since I last posted, I've read The Girl in The Mask by Marie-Louise Jensen (awesome historical book about a girl who rebels by becoming a highway robber), How Kirsty Stole the Elephant by Elen Caldecott (she's my manuscript tutor) and I just finished Ultraviolet by RJ Anderson (a pretty cool sci-fi-ish book about a girl with synaesthesia.

I've just finished Black Diamond by Martin Walker, which is a crime novel set in France. It's okay but nothing brilliant. I'd be interested to know if anyone has read 50 Shades of Grey by EL James or either of the other 2 books in the trilogy. I work for the publisher so I'm interested to know what people think of it.

Trevor I have read all 3 of the Fifty shade, and I thought they were that great I read them again. There is so much more to the story than people think. I loved it and from what I see on Facebook is that alot of other people love it too, there is some great fan pages on there I am now currently reading Black Dawn (morganville vampire series) by Rachel Caine. I do love a good Vampire story

I wouldn't read it myself - the thought of reading something that started off as a Twilight fanfiction makes me want to cry, lol.

hehe, so you're not a big twilight fan I take it? Trevor, a friend of mine has read the first 50 Shades book and she said she enjoyed it - I think she's on the second one at the moment. Hmmm, I might give it a go myself now...

Lol, well I've read the series and I didn't think it was the worst thing ever, I just didn't enjoy the writing and felt the whole thing was a really bad message to girls/women. (Plus I don't like fanfiction in general!) I quite enjoy other vampire things though, I'm a big fan of Buffy and True Blood.
