Hey. I‘ve got two concerts coming up, Lacuna Coil (at Wulfrun Hall, Wolverhampton) and Nightwish (Birmingham O2 Academy). The Lacuna Coil concert‘s first and I‘ve never been to a concert before and am in need of some advice. 1. What to wear? 2. How much money to bring? 3. Do I wear my glasses? (I‘ve never had contacts, so that could be an issue.) 4. Any other useful tips?

1. Whatever you like.. but personally I avoided heals (if female) as after a while of standing in same place just ache. Don't wear anything too hot as you will overheat inside with all the people. If taking a jacket to survive cold outside, either check it into cloak room or do as I do and tie it around waist inside, don't wear it.
2. If you want to buy merch bring enough to cover. Merch at venues is more expensive than their online stores. If you just want enough to survive, bring some to buy water £10 should do.
3. Yes wear them. I wear both glasses and contacts and used both at concerts. You'll regret not having clear vision.
4. Go have fun and let your hair down. Make sure you know last times for buses/trains if using public transport as gigs can finish late.

Is it a good idea to wear band merch to the concert or not?

Yup, done so in past. Loads of people do. Probably more band shirts than none band shirts at some gigs

I always wear band shirts to concerts only problem is that it's pretty likely that a few other people will be wearing the same shirt!

If you do wear band T-shirt make sure it's the right band. I think it looks disrespectful to the band performing if you are wearing someone else's T (unless it's support band). I agree with escapist that you should bring enough to cover merch prices plus enough for daily expenses plus plan for how you will get home. If you think the concert will go on too late consider staying over. To summarise plan ahead & enjoy!!

I have never ever heard of people saying you shouldn't wear the band's t-shirt to their concert before! I always try to wear the right band t-shirt, because I agree it seems a bit weird to wear a shirt for a different band (though probably no-one would mind, I mean tons of people at Out of the Dark were wearing Pythia t-shirts even though Pythia weren't on the bill). Band merch can be very expensive at concerts. I bought the tour hoodie at the last Nightwish concert and it was £40 (gulp) but I really wanted it. I've seen t-shirts priced at anything from £10 to £25, and for some reason slim fit ones are usually at the top end of the price range. I won't generally buy anything that isn't unique for the tour because if it isn't it's probably cheaper on the website. I just wrote out some good things to wear here - the-islanders.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=nightwishtour&action=display&thread=244&page=1As for some extra tips, here's some things I usually do: - Look up the route to the gig on Google Maps and make sure you know train/bus times and so on. You might also want to see if there's any places nearby where you can get some food to eat in the queue (especially if you're queuing for a long time!) - Take a bottle of water for the queue but a lot of places will take it off you at the door. You can get water/other drinks inside or alternatively sneak in some small juice cartons. - Bring a decent camera if you have one, but not too good (i.e. a big SLR) because it will probably get confiscated. - If you're able to, go to the stage door/tourbus after the gig! There's usually a bunch of people hanging around it waiting for autographs. Bring something you want to get signed like an album cover. Nightwish don't seem to really go for meeting people afterwards but Lacuna Coil usually always do.

I wore a Nightwish t-shirt to an Evanescence concert and someone silently stopped me and shook my hand.
