Does anyone know of a cheap and easy way to get from the North of England to Helsinki? Its ridiculously difficult and/or expensive. Ryanair fly to Turku and Tampere, but they are 70-80 miles away. I can't believe they don't go to the capital.

I would like to know the same for Manchester as I am considering saving up for the very last concert of the tour which will no doubt be on their home turf.

Alex and Carol both seem to fly via Amsterdam, I don't know what airline they use, but might be worth asking them!

We've flown KLM via Amsterdam, they're usually brilliant (although my luggage got lost this time - but I'm sure that is a 1/1000000 chance). You can fly from Glasgow or Newcastle and change in Amsterdam. You get a snack an a drink in flight, luggage is included so when booking in advanced it isn't much more expensive than Ryanair etc
Also: Tampere is a great city, if you get the chance to visit do! I love it.

I have been to Helsinki 3 times and managed to use a different airline each time!. The first time i went over in 2005 I went with KLM from bristol international. However this year when i have been to Finland I have been going from the London airports as their is a big difference in price at the moment of about approx. £200. Because we have good connections with London from Bristol it was worth the extra cost & journey to the airport. Plus flights from London go direct to Helsinki. The cheapest fare when I went in Nov was Norweigian SAS(from Gatwick), followed by British Airways (Heathrow). However it is worth doing a search nearer the time you want to go as prices can change
