Hi, everyone.
I'm Mike. A Nightwish fan from Dorset. Became a part of the fan club just last week ahead of the Wembley gig, which I'll be attending with my girlfriend, and had every intention to join the forum at the same time, but life gets in the way. But here I am! While I've joined plenty of other forums for things I've loved over the years (Zelda, James Bond and Pokémon among others), this is only the second fan club I've joined, the first being the Dennis The Menace Fan Club, when I was a real young'un.
Been a fan of Nightwish since 2004 when I was 17 and a school friend introduced me to the band with Planet Hell. Instant love. I've always loved my music big and theatrical and a bit mad, and Nightwish just seemed to have it all.
I bought Once and swiftly the four-disc set of their back catalogue. I was hooked. While I loved the old stuff and have enjoyed the Annette years and am totally in awe of Floor, Once is still the benchmark I judge the new stuff against. EFMB is brilliant and comes pretty close to toppling Once, but you never forget your first...
That being said, my favourite song is probably Last Ride of the Day from Imaginaerum. It's got a pretty awesome message I wish I'd heard long ago, and it was the song playing in my head when I threw myself out of a plane for charity earlier this year.
Anyways, I tend to prattle on so I'll shut up now and see you in the other threads.
