Hi, Another very new member calling! Graeme from deepest Suffolk. Been into Nightwish since Nemo which (like others have), I found whilst trawling the music channels. Saw them at Hammersmith on the Once tour and again just days ago at Wembley. As an old rocker from the seventies, I`m not the best at taking in `new stuff` and still listen to 70`s Wishbone Ash, Genesis, Yes, Uriah Heep etc., etc., but NW was different and was so hard to pin down exactly what they were initially. I think I know what they are now and really appreciate the various styles and influences which they bring in. I would probably say that `Everdream` is my favourite track, but I don`t have a favourite album (love them all) or a favourite singer (hate all that `who`s best` stuff!) My better half likes them and enjoyed Wembley, but I think she enjoyed Billy Elliot which I took her to the night before better......but then again after 36 years we hardly ever agree on anything `artistic` or musical....I bought some new pictures for our lounge the other day, knowing she wouldn`t like the artwork but would like the frames......I was right! Very much like Within Temptation as well - missed seeing them last year after they changed their London date, will try to see them next time. But, who else should I be listening to? Suggestions please! Oh, I do like Muse. Finally, I have to say, we didn`t feel at all `old` at Wembley, has the age range of NW fans widened to include maturer types? I work in a school, but have yet to find any youngsters who have already heard of Nightwish? Happy Christmas everyone! riles Aged 58 and three quarters.

Hi Riles,
Welcome to the fold. My journey also started with Nemo, and I've yet to find anything quite like Nightwish. Within Temptation are a safe bet, and you might also like to look up Indica and Epica.
Like yourself, I also work in a school, or schools (plural) now, as I've switched from teaching to supply work. I've found a few youngsters who are aware and even like Nightwish, but they don't seem to be all that 'into it' - I think that perhaps the age of the band, and the number of changes, has made it difficult for them to latch on in some way, although I personally can't see how...

Welcome! There was actually a poll on the NW forum about the ages of fans. The results were:
1. 19-25 years old (82 votes) 2. 26-35 years old (70 votes) 3. 36-50 years old (38 votes) 5. Over 50 years old (23 votes) 6. Under 18 years old (18 votes)
So there's a pretty wide range of ages amongst fans, but I think there are fewer younger people (as in teenagers) that know about the band.
For some band recommendations: Delain, Epica, Leaves' Eyes, Xandria, Kamelot. Also the other projects of band members, e.g. Tarja's solo work, ReVamp (Floor), Scrooge McDuck (Tuomas), Tarot (Marco) are all worth checking out.

Hi and welcome to the club!
You know I have never really thought about the age groups that listen to music, I have always thought of music as to a point being ageless. I think I have been an Iron Maiden fan too long I have seen whole family's go to their concerts, Grandparents taking Grandchildren, I think that is the way it should be.
My Husband and I do not always see eye to eye on music either ^_^ People here have mentioned more bands in this area that I could think off, so I hope you find something else that you like!
